Teleport is developing infrastructure and software to help nomadic workers seamlessly move from place to place. The company calls itself a "search engine for digital nomads" and aims to build tools that help people decide where to live, how to pay taxes and how to get visas. As a first step it launched a Bay Area tool that suggests cheaper neighborhoods based on where users work and live and lets users filter for access to the outdoors, nearby train stations, gyms and yoga studios. The product excludes demographic data such as racial makeup, a design choice the team says reflects ethical discussions about gentrification. Much of the team was early at Skype, and Teleport describes itself as a distributed company with two people in Palo Alto, three in Estonia and one in Germany. The company raised $2.5 million from Andreessen Horowitz, SV Angel, Seedcamp and angel investors including Scott and Cyan Banister and Rain Rannu.
