Teller
595 Pacific Ave Fl 4, San Francisco, California, 94133, United States
Overview
Teller builds banking connectivity infrastructure, giving developers direct, reliable API access to consumer bank accounts without relying on screenscraping. After initially operating in the U.K., the company reincorporated in the United States in late 2018, attracted by the larger market and fewer regulatory hurdles compared with PSD2 in Europe. It positions itself as a faster, more dependable alternative to incumbent provider Plaid, highlighting stable integrations such as with Capital One where Plaid has struggled. Teller shut down its original U.K. service and launched a U.S. beta in September. The founders, Stevie Graham and Dan Palmer, believe Plaid’s pending acquisition by Visa will weaken that product and open space for Teller to gain share. To fund the expansion, the company has secured $4 million in seed financing, giving it runway to scale its U.S. platform and recruit talent, including disaffected Plaid employees. No specific revenue, user, or growth figures have been disclosed to date.
