Founded in 2018 from the merger of Penguin Doctor and Almond Doctor, Penguin Almond combines online telemedicine with an expanding network of offline clinics and day-surgery centers. The platform leverages Tencent’s traffic, data, and technology and claims about 440,000 online active certified doctors, nearly 50 offline clinics/day-surgery centers, and roughly 10 million users. It connects more than 30,000 hospitals and offers services including online consultation, a health marketplace, general practice, family doctor services, referrals, and testing. Management says it has developed mature operational processes for clinic site selection, construction, licensing, physician training, and marketing. The company plans rapid nationwide expansion of offline medical institutions and deeper cooperation with upstream and downstream medical partners to consolidate its leadership in internet-enabled clinic chains.
