Overview

Tendertech’s core product, Hestia, is a privacy-first, wall-mounted sensor system that uses heat-sensing data and AI to record temperatures, daily movements, rest patterns and detect falls without using cameras. The founders, Afroditi Konidari and Rui Zhang, are remote carers with backgrounds in digital health, connected care and smart buildings and founded the company in 2017. Since inception the company says Hestia has detected over 5,000 fall-related incidents and early symptoms of frailty, enabling earlier intervention. Tendertech has previously received investment from Metavallon VC and a £1.4m grant from Innovate UK and UKRI’s Designed for Ageing challenge in 2022. The new funding will be used to support expansion into the broader social care market and to create opportunities in Europe, particularly in the domiciliary care sector. The company positions its offering as cost-effective, personalised and preventative remote monitoring for ageing populations. Tendertec builds a connected care platform (Hestia) and is developing FitBees, a digital fitness support service that combines Hestia, home sensors, wearable technologies, motivational encouragement and community connections. Hestia enables remote monitoring of daily living activities for people with carers. FitBees targets older adults—particularly under-represented groups who are less physically and digitally engaged—and uses a strong user-centred design process. The company has secured funding to support development: a £1.4m grant from UK Research and Innovation toward a £1.8m FitBees project. Tendertec is working with a consortium of partners including learning disability charity Hft, Community Housing, the University of the West of England and KYMIRA. At the conclusion of the study the start-up plans to launch its digital platform for widespread use in 2023.
