TerraTalk is a Japanese startup offering an AI-powered app that corrects English learners' pronunciation and grammar. The app presents 12 roleplaying scenarios (e.g., booking a hotel, going on a date) with lessons of about two minutes where users respond by voice. Its end-to-end AI analyzes grammar, fluency, pronunciation and sentence structure and provides scores for fluency and sentence construction; the app uses American English as its standard pronunciation. The Android app has launched and an iOS version is planned later this year; the interface is currently in Japanese but the product is language-agnostic and can be localized. The company plans to add different accents to better serve learners who need exposure to non‑American accents. TerraTalk is currently free and intends to move to a monthly subscription model in the future.
