Thames Card Technology manufactures plastic cards and provides full-service solutions including design, personalization and dispatch for customers across banking, retail, telecoms and ID. Founded in 1994 by managing director Paul Underwood and based in Rayleigh, Essex, the company serves an international blue-chip customer base. In 2013 TCT manufactured over 175 million credit/debit, gift and loyalty cards and generated sales of £18m. The company intends to use the new funds to acquire manufacturing equipment to increase capacity and efficiency. It also plans to expand in the international bankcard and prepaid card markets. The board was strengthened as part of the investment with Andy Caffyn joining as Non-Executive Chairman alongside BGF's investment director Rory Pope.
