The Arena Group is a UK-based event services company that designs, delivers and project-manages all aspects of temporary event overlay. Led by CEO Greg Lawless and referred to as Arena Europe in the article, it works on state visits, royal weddings and major sporting tournaments. The company has bases in the UK, Portugal, Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Dubai and plans further global expansion into the Far East. In February 2012 it received a £16.5m growth capital investment. Backers included MML Capital and Sports Investment Partners (SIP), which have taken a minority stake. As part of the transaction Bal Johal joined the board and Matthew Wheeler of SIP became chairman.
