Over the past year thousands of farmers have used the company’s insurance product. The company acquires and generates vast sets of structured and unstructured environmental and agricultural data to support customer applications. With the new financing, Climate Corp plans to expand its set of customer applications and hire more than 50 quantitative researchers, data scientists, and software engineers. The company frames its products as a way to protect the $3 trillion global agriculture industry from the financial impact of adverse weather. To date the company has raised over $110 million in investment.
