The Compression Company
London, United Kingdom
Overview
Founded in 2025, The Compression Company develops a software platform that uses artificial intelligence to compress satellite-generated earth-observation and geospatial data both on-orbit and on the ground. By shrinking file sizes before transmission, the technology enables operators to send more imagery and sensor data through limited downlink bandwidth, cutting costs and reducing latency. The system integrates into existing satellite workflows, so customers do not need to overhaul hardware or ground-station processes. Management is led by CEO Michael Stanway and CTO Joe Griffith, the company’s co-founders. With fresh capital, the startup plans to scale its engineering team and accelerate commercial deployments with satellite operators. To date, the company has announced $3.4 million in outside funding and has not disclosed any revenue or user figures.
