The Dipp is a personalized subscription website for TV’s biggest fans that aims to focus on niche fandoms, especially within reality TV. Founded by former Bustle colleagues Kate Ward and Lindsay Mannering, the company launched in January and is based in Brooklyn. Its core product will offer a customized home page, a weekly newsletter, and later podcasts, with an emphasis on community features such as comments, online discussions, and ask-me-anything forums. The Dipp plans to use data from social media to identify the franchises and characters its subscribers care about and to inform editorial focus. Users will be able to start with a free trial and then pay a monthly all-access subscription fee. The company plans to debut content in the fall and expects remote-friendly hiring to be aided by the founders’ media networks. The Dipp raised $2.3 million in seed funding led by Defy Partners.
