The Garden is a digital-first learning platform and community that brings academics ('Fellows') out of institutions into members' homes via cinematic, intimate live-streamed and on-demand talks across the sciences and humanities. Its core product is weekly interactive live talks (two to three per week) filmed in Fellows' homes, which are also made available on-demand. Fellows cover topics from neuroscience and plant science to oceanography and psychology and engage audiences in real time. Following a beta launch in January, The Garden has signed up over 11,000 early members, with average live attendance above 200 and more than 100 on-demand talks available. The platform positions itself between passive formats like Masterclass and TED by offering conversational, supervision-style sessions without exams or grades. With a focus on diversity—35% of fellows are people of colour and more than half are female—the company aims to grow a global, intergenerational community for curious learners.
