The Grid
2816 Clay Street, San Francisco, CA, 94123, United States
Overview
The Grid builds an artificial-intelligence website builder that automatically creates sites from the content users provide. Its software performs deep content analysis — including sentiment analysis, face detection, automatic image cropping, low-contrast detection and overall color-spectrum analysis — to choose fonts, colors, layouts and where to place text. The product is currently aimed at content-heavy corporate and portfolio sites rather than blogs or news sites. The Grid’s own homepage is built with an early version of the service, which CEO and co-founder Dan Tocchini demonstrated; the backend UI remains rough and needs work. The company ran one of the most successful crowdfunding campaigns for a software product earlier this year and has moved on to institutional fundraising. It is targeting a launch at the end of spring 2015 and is offering early-access pricing of $8 per month, rising to $25 per month after launch.
