Overview
Theatro offers a voice-driven virtual assistant SaaS platform that gives frontline, hourly employees heads-up, hands-free mobile access to enterprise systems, leadership teams, and colleagues. Its solution combines speech technology, mobile apps and free IoT devices to help employees operate efficiently without looking at a screen. Led by CEO Chris Todd, Theatro targets retail, hospitality, manufacturing and other markets with large hourly workforces. The company plans to use the new capital to scale its offerings across those sectors. In 2019 Theatro nearly tripled the number of stores deployed since 2018, including a major rollout with Walgreens and its first gaming customer, Coyote Valley Casino. It has also added Spanish and French language support to serve global customers. Financially, the company recently secured a $20M Series C and earlier this year completed a $15M Series B-1. Theatro pioneers voice-enabled enterprise wearable devices paired with a software suite of productivity applications for hourly, on-the-move workers in retail, hospitality and manufacturing. Its core product is a voice-controlled wearable communications device plus a SaaS offering delivered over in-store WiFi for heads-up, hands-free communications. The company commercialized its SaaS offering in December 2013 and reports rapid growth with a notable list of national retail clients. Theatro opened a research and development center in Bangalore, India in February 2014 to support product innovation. Financially, Theatro has secured $8.8M in total investment, including a $5M Series A led by Khosla Ventures. The latest capital will be used to expand sales and marketing efforts and to broaden and accelerate product innovation.
