Founded in 2016, TheBoardroom Africa (TBR Africa) maintains a unique pool of peer-endorsed female leaders from over 45 countries across the region and connects them with CEOs and board directors seeking diverse talent. The organisation partners with development finance institutions, private equity, venture capital funds and corporations to enable placements on boards and investment committees. CDC Group will provide £1.6m in funding, drawn from a DFID-funded technical assistance programme, to help TBR Africa expand its membership and client base across key growth markets. The funding will also support development of accredited board training and mentorship programmes tailored to women in the African business community. In the past year TBR Africa has supported several board and investment committee placements for CDC investments, including a major multinational bank, MedAccess and the Africa Food Security Fund.
