THINK produces the THINK City, a highway-capable electric vehicle certified to European safety standards. The THINK City is slated to go on sale in the U.S. later this year, with initial U.S. cars built in Finland until Indiana production begins in 2011. THINK has announced a manufacturing facility in Elkhart, Indiana, and plans further expansion into North American markets. The company offers the THINK City and is also developing EV drivetrain systems, with projects to supply consortiums in Japan involving Mazda, Japan Post and Itochu Corporation. Financially, THINK completed a US$40m equity increase, said it is fully funded and expects to become cash-flow positive in 2011, and has raised a total of US$87m since last August. THINK has invested heavily in new product development in Europe and Asia and completed initial due diligence for a prospective low-cost, long-term loan from the U.S. Department of Energy.
