Overview
Thinkerbell Labs develops assistive hardware and learning tools to teach braille to children and young people with visual impairment. Its flagship product, Annie, enables self-learning of braille and allows monitoring by teachers or parents. The team originally worked as Project Mudra and is founded by four BITS Pilani, Goa alumni: Sanskriti Dawle, Aman Srivastava, Dilip Ramesh and Saif Shaikh. The startup aims to eradicate barriers to braille literacy and dramatically increase braille literacy rates worldwide. The articles note there are more than 285 million visually impaired people globally and that braille literacy in India is only about 1%, motivating the company’s mission. Thinkerbell says it will leverage investor support to scale its product and impact.
