Overview

Founded in 2015 and based in Beijing, ThreatBook began as a threat-intelligence provider and expanded its core capabilities across multiple product lines. Its technology stack applies threat detection, machine learning and model algorithms to upgrade traditional nodes, IDS and gateway products. Product lines include OneEDR (host/subscription detection and response), TDP (traffic detection and response) and OneDNS (enterprise cloud gateway). The company was an early Chinese adopter of a subscription-based “security as a service” model and emphasizes light deployment and maintenance. ThreatBook serves nearly 1,000 large enterprise customers, including State Grid Corporation of China, Xiaomi, JD.com and CITIC Group. It plans to continue increasing investment in R&D, market development and help enterprise customers upgrade their security operations. ThreatBook builds endpoint-focused cybersecurity software sold as an annual SaaS subscription that automatically detects threats on employee devices and delivers remediation guidance. The company says more than 80% of its customers are large corporations in finance, energy, internet and manufacturing, and government contracts are a smaller slice. It serves about 3,000 companies, of which roughly 300 are paying customers, and reports a 95% annual subscription renewal rate. ThreatBook has raised institutional capital to date and closed a ¥500 million ($76M) Series E in March, bringing total funding to over ¥1 billion, with Hillhouse Capital named among investors. Founder and CEO Xue Feng previously led information security at Amazon China and was director of internet security at Microsoft in China. The company has met preliminary requirements of the Shanghai STAR board and plans to pursue an IPO when conditions are right; it also intends to expand overseas but was held back by the COVID-19 pandemic.
