ThreatX
225 Friend Street Suite 805, Boston, Massachusetts, 02114, United States
Overview
ThreatX offers an API protection platform that includes bot and DDoS mitigation and traditional web application firewall (WAF) capabilities for first- and third-party web apps. The platform builds profiles of threat actors and uses a detection and correlation engine to identify and block active threats in real time. ThreatX emphasizes blocking attacks in real time rather than offline observability, positioning itself against API observability tools and legacy WAF/bot vendors. The company says it has more than 100 customers. With the new funding it plans to accelerate platform development and scale sales and marketing. Financially, the raise brings ThreatX’s total capital raised to $52 million. ThreatX offers a WAAP platform that protects web applications and APIs from threats including DDoS, bot attacks, API abuse, known-vulnerability exploitations, and zero-day attacks using multi-layered detection and attacker-centric behavioral blocking. The company emphasizes dynamic detection that identifies malicious actors and initiates appropriate actions in real time. ThreatX plans to use new capital to accelerate business, grow engineering, and strengthen its fully managed WAAP services team to provide application security expertise. Management aims to increase revenue by 150% in 2021 and to expand market penetration across verticals. The company also intends to expand U.S. operations with a new East Coast office in Boston. ThreatX positions its platform as addressing protection gaps left by legacy WAFs to help ensure critical infrastructure and business continuity. Threat X offers a cloud-based, SaaS WAF that employs kill-chain–based progressive profiling and behavioral correlation to identify and neutralize web application threats while reducing false positives and maintenance burdens. The platform is designed for hybrid cloud, mobile, IoT and API-driven environments and can be deployed rapidly as a managed security service. Threat X’s approach automates threat correlation and grading of risk throughout the attack kill-chain to provide a holistic, risk-based view of attacks. The company markets both the software platform and a managed service and reports deployments across industries, with customers including BMC Software, Denver Health, GHX (Global Healthcare Exchange), and Kroenke Sports and Entertainment. Management emphasizes rapid adoption and operational simplicity, enabling customers to move to blocking mode quickly and lower maintenance overhead. The announced Series A is intended to fuel continued growth and support rapid adoption of the company’s solution and services.
