Overview

Thrive Global builds an AI-powered behavior change platform that delivers science-backed Microsteps, real-time stress interventions, Leadership Journeys and a Mental Resilience Dashboard to help employees and organizations reduce burnout and improve productivity. Since its 2016 launch the company says employees at more than 100 organizations in over 40 countries have taken more than 1.5 million Microsteps across six Journeys. The platform is embedded into workflows (for example, integrated with Microsoft Teams) and the company plans integrations with Zoom and Cisco Webex later this year. With the new funding Thrive will expand product, engineering and design teams and invest in data science, AI and machine learning to build a more intelligent Microstep engine and enhance the Mental Resilience Dashboard. The company also plans to double down on go-to-market hiring and business development to integrate its behavior change solutions into partners’ offerings for consumers, self-insured employers and call centers. Thrive Global is headquartered in New York City and has offices in San Francisco, Dublin, Athens, Bucharest and Melbourne. Thrive Global is a NYC-based behavior change media and technology company founded by Arianna Huffington in November 2016. Its core offering combines media and technology to drive behavior change that improves well-being and performance for individuals, companies and communities. The company intends to use the funds to accelerate technology and product growth. It closed a $13M extension of its Series B funding round with a group of new strategic partners. The extension brought total capital raised to date to $43M at a $121.5M valuation. New backers included Kevin Durant and Rich Kleiman, 49ers Enterprises, Jeffrey Katzenberg's Wndrco, Eric Roza, Adrian Aoun, Yash Sandesara and Adam Miller. Thrive Global offers a media platform, corporate services (live and digital workshops, e-courses, organizational assessment and measurement) and a behavior-change technology suite that includes Pathways, Journeys, Microsteps, the Thrive App and ThriveAway. Since launching, the company has conducted over 200 live corporate trainings in 26 countries and its media platform reaches more than 20 million cross-platform users with a community of over 15,000 contributors. The company emphasizes science-based interventions to reduce stress and burnout and to improve employee engagement, retention and performance. Thrive Global plans to productize its intellectual property, develop digital behavior-change products for enterprise and consumer markets, build world-class data, analytics and measurement capabilities, and continue international expansion with new partnerships in China, Australia and the Middle East. The company is also investing in video content production across formats, including premium series, short form, enterprise video and online training courses. Thrive Global was founded in November 2016 and is headquartered in New York; it has undertaken rapid growth in its first year of operation. Thrive Global is a wellness-focused startup founded by Arianna Huffington that shares its name with her book and emphasizes improving sleep and reducing exhaustion. The company plans to deliver seminars, coaching, and other methods to provide users with micro-steps toward wellness. Its stated mission is to change the way people work and live by ending the belief that burnout is a necessary price for success. Thrive is scheduled to launch in November following the election. Financially, the company has closed an undisclosed Series A. Arianna Huffington left her role at the Huffington Post to run Thrive full time.
