Overview
Thriver (formerly Platterz) offers a workplace culture platform that extends corporate food solutions to virtual experiences, wellness initiatives, and professional development. Its offerings include Group Ordering for meals and catering, a reloadable Treat Card for remote perks, and Virtual Experiences delivered through a centralized platform with Slack integration. Over the past five years (as Platterz) it has served tens of thousands of daily meals at more than 2,000 companies, partnered with hundreds of restaurants, and processed over $100 million in food-related orders. The company rebranded to Thriver to reflect a move beyond food-centric services toward broader culture-driven programs. The funding will be used to expand into new markets, extend platform capabilities, and grow the team to support hybrid and remote work engagement needs. Platterz uses a proprietary 'predictive meal builder' to generate personalized quotes and menus by leveraging clients' headcount, budget parameters and dietary preferences. Led by co-founders Eran Henig (CEO) and Yishay Waxman (President), the platform connects companies to hundreds of local restaurants and caterers for lunches, meetings and events. The service aims to reduce companies' average time spent ordering food and is serving thousands of employees across Toronto and New York City. The company has more than 50 employees. Platterz closed a US$15m Series A and will use the funds to accelerate product development and pursue global expansion in 2018. The company added Jonathan Zabusky and Ran Makavy as advisors to its board. Platterz offers a corporate catering platform that uses proprietary machine learning to recommend custom menus for events and meetings. The platform launched in January 2016 and is routinely used by over 1,000 Toronto and Kitchener–Waterloo businesses, including Apple, Salesforce, LinkedIn, Deloitte, TD and Shopify. Platterz’s product simplifies ordering by automating menu recommendations and logistics for office meals. The company has a team of 25 and expects to double headcount over the next year. It intends to use new capital to expand market presence, accelerate product and machine-learning development, and amplify sales and marketing.
