Tibdit is a London-based WordPress plugin that enables bitcoin micropayments, letting users send tips or 'tibs' of 3p–75p to content producers. It supports both ad-hoc tipping and 'access payments' allowing users to pay to view content beyond a publisher's paywall. The platform is designed so publishers ('tibbees') cannot see the value of individual transactions, which the company says encourages equal treatment of contributors. Founded in September 2013, Tibdit has integrated with a handful of sites and is prioritising sectors where 'tibbing' fits. The company raised £122,080 in seed capital via a Seedrs equity crowdfunding round; 161 investors will receive 15.03% equity. Roughly half the funds will go to additional features, about a third to expand site support, and the remainder to operational expenses.
