Overview
Tiger Pistol is a social marketing platform for small to medium-sized businesses, enabling them to harness big data to run sophisticated advertising campaigns. The company is based in Melbourne. It closed a $3.1 million funding round to support its growth. As part of the deal, Melbourne IT will become a white-label reseller of the Tiger Pistol platform. That partnership is expected to provide the software to an additional 500,000 small businesses in Australia. Other investors in the round include Liberty Financial chief executive Sherman Ma, former Channel Seven managing director Michael Harms, and other private individuals. Tiger Pistol offers a platform that uses business-specific information (type, location, Facebook status) to generate step-by-step social marketing instructions, scheduling for posts and ads, and content guidelines. Version 2.0 introduces increased automation and analytics intended to make social marketing easier for small businesses that lack agency budgets. The company says it uses large amounts of data to predict what will and won’t work for customers, while providing guidance that preserves each business’s unique personality. Tiger Pistol reports it has worked with “thousands” of customers in more than 100 countries. Co-founder and CEO Steve Hibberd frames the product as filling a gap for small businesses that need the same marketing discipline as larger firms but do not have large budgets for experts or agencies. The company simultaneously launched v2.0 and announced additional funding to support the product. Tiger Pistol is an Australian startup that offers a social media marketing platform described as both "small business friendly" and "enterprise powerful." Its product provides pre-built campaign templates, a drag-and-drop interface for customization, and analytics tracking including participant counts and conversion rates. The company completed a closed beta with about 1,600 participants across more than 100 countries and lists customers such as Expedia, Hotels.com, The Weather Channel, Village Roadshow, Under Armour, and the BBC. Tiger Pistol is launching publicly after the closed beta and currently supports Facebook only, with plans to add Twitter, LinkedIn, Sina Weibo, and Kaixin001. It offers 24-hour live chat customer support, aims to be a global, multi-language product, and targets both small businesses and larger enterprise customers. Financially, the company has raised over $1 million in angel funding led by David Solomon and may seek additional capital.
