Tigris Data is building a network of localized data storage centers that automatically replicate data to wherever GPUs and distributed compute are running, giving developers low-latency, egress-free access to their datasets. Its platform supports billions of small files and is optimized for training, inference and agentic AI workloads. Founded in November 2021 by the team behind Uber’s storage platform, the company targets generative AI startups and other data-intensive customers. Tigris reports serving more than 4,000 customers and claims 8× year-over-year growth since inception. It currently operates three U.S. data centers in Virginia, Chicago and San Jose. With fresh capital, the firm plans to expand its footprint into Europe and Asia, beginning with London, Frankfurt and Singapore. By decentralizing storage, Tigris positions itself as a faster, cheaper alternative to AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure for AI use cases. The recent funding will accelerate data-center build-outs and support rising demand.
