TikkTalk - powered by Skiwo
Gaustadalleen 21, Oslo, 0349, Norway
Overview
Skiwo runs TikkTalk, a digital interpreting platform that lets certified interpreters and bilinguals sell interpreting services online via video or audio, one-to-one or through hubs with secure lines. The company offers two versions: TikkTalkPro for paid certified interpreters and TikkTalkGo for bilinguals, the latter also available for free. Founders Gautam Chandna, Jørn Mikalsen and Rodney Boot developed the service after an initial idea from Rolf Assev, and say demand grew following the refugee crisis. Skiwo raised NOK 7 million in its first funding round and says it has secured enough capital to move forward quickly. The company plans to expand staff, find product–market fit by engaging refugee organizations, refugees, authorities and interpreters, and to develop automated solutions that let interpreters set prices and remove intermediaries. Management notes existing interpreter agencies as incumbents and cites getacross.org in Greece and larger U.S. agencies as only partial parallels.
