Overview
Tiko is a Spanish proptech launched in 2018 that buys and sells homes via a technology platform and a proprietary Big Data valuation algorithm. Its product lets owners complete a short form and receive an offer within 24 hours, shortening traditional sales cycles and increasing transparency. The company says it has attracted requests from more than 150,000 homeowners and captured over 33% of homes for sale in Madrid and roughly 25% in Barcelona, Málaga and Sevilla; it also operates in Valencia and Vizcaya. Tiko employs about 75 people and planned to finish 2021 operating in 10 regions including expansion into Portugal. The new capital will be used to further develop its valuation algorithm and to support national and international expansion. The company did not disclose its valuation. Tiko is a Spanish PropTech company that applies technology to the real estate sector to optimize the buying and selling of homes. Founded in mid-2017 by Ana Villanueva and Sina Afra, the company uses automated valuation tools to issue an offer within 24 hours. Its business model is based on speed and volume with the goal of completing property transactions in a matter of days. Tiko established operations in Madrid, citing the city’s high transaction volume, low transaction costs, and an opaque market as reasons for the choice. The company closed a €35 million venture capital round to fund its launch and expansion. Tiko plans to expand to 10 European cities over the next five years, with Milan targeted as its second market in early 2018.
