Overview
Tiltan Pharma is a Jerusalem-based biotechnology company developing TL-118, an oral anti-angiogenic combination therapy for cancer. TL-118 is formulated as an oral solution administered once daily and combines multiple approved agents in a timed regimen to maximize synergistic inhibition of tumor angiogenesis. More than 100 cancer patients have been treated with TL-118 for up to four years, and preclinical mouse studies showed TL-118 monotherapy inhibited tumor growth while combination with chemotherapy eliminated tumors in animals. A Phase 1 trial at Sheba Medical Center enrolled 30 patients and found the therapy safe and tolerable; the company is now conducting a randomized Phase 2 study in metastatic pancreatic cancer. The ongoing Phase 2 is planned for 80 newly diagnosed, chemotherapy-naive metastatic pancreatic cancer patients across nine centers in Israel and the U.S.; half the patients have been enrolled and the trial has two groups of 40 patients each. Tiltan raised $1.5 million to complete the Phase 2 study and plans to complete enrollment within a year with hopes to present results by mid-2015. The company is a portfolio company of Integra Holdings and is jointly owned by Yissum, entrepreneurs, Israeli and Canadian investors; TL-118 is patent protected in the U.S., Europe and major markets.
