Tiny is the result of a merger between Moxiecode (TinyMCE) and Ephox (Textbox.io) and is best known for the TinyMCE editor used in WordPress, Marketo, Zendesk, Atlassian and other products. The company continues to offer a free open-source editor alongside a cloud-hosted paid tier (priced by number of users) and a self-hosted paid tier (priced by number of servers). Tiny is pushing growth after the merger and product consolidation; both Ephox and Moxiecode had been profitable prior to combining. As part of its expansion the company launched Tiny Drive, a file storage service that uses AWS S3 and CloudFront, plus a Tiny App Directory to curate plugins. Tiny also announced a developer preview of TinyMCE 5, with a redesigned UI and extensibility via plugins. Management says the merger and new products are intended to drive the next phase of scale for the business.
