Tinybop is a Brooklyn-based developer of educational apps for children. Led by founder and CEO Raul Gutierrez, the company has created 13 apps combining engineering, design and education, featuring illustrations and intelligent animations. Its product lines include The Digital Toys, a series of five open-ended building apps, and The Explorer’s Library, eight interactive playscapes that teach STEM fundamentals. Tinybop’s apps include parent-facing tools such as information-rich dashboards and handbooks. The company recently received a minority investment from Sandbox Partners, which took a board seat and became its largest institutional shareholder. Tinybop is using the proceeds to build a constellation of apps, scale the business and expand operations worldwide. Tinybop develops immersive, design-forward educational apps for children, releasing interactive simulations such as The Human Body and Plants. Its first app, The Human Body, topped the App Store education charts in 143 countries and has been downloaded 4.9 million times. The company emphasizes deep, thoughtful interactions and strong branding—its team produced a 60-page brand book before funding. Tinybop is experimenting with monetization but plans to primarily sell apps globally; Plants is priced at $1.99 and The Human Body at $3.99.
