Tomorrow offers a mobile-first, ethical banking platform that steers customer deposits away from the fossil-fuel industry and into sustainable projects. The company collaborates with its user base to design customised account fees and also provides carbon-offsetting investment opportunities to help users reduce their environmental footprint. Founded in 2018 by Inas Nureldin, Michael Schweikart and Jakob Berndt, Tomorrow has attracted more than 100,000 customers and over 10,000 crowdfunders, making it Europe’s largest crowd-backed company. Although it does not yet hold its own banking licence, the startup partners with licensed institutions to deliver its services. Management reports that the business has reached monthly profitability for the first time. The newly raised capital will fund further customer acquisition and the development of additional banking products, broadening the platform’s software capabilities.
