Overview

Topguest is a New York–based travel rewards service that aggregates geo-location data from multiple check-in platforms (Foursquare, Gowalla, Loopt, Google Latitude, Yelp and Twitter) to credit users with points at travel partners. Launched in June and led by founder Geoff Lewis, the service syncs check-ins from many apps so points are stored in one location regardless of where users check in. Topguest has partnered with hotel partners including the Standard, Soho & Tribeca Grand and a notable deal with InterContinental Priority Club (covering roughly 4,400 properties). The platform awards points (a common transaction is 50 points per hotel activity; a free night could be awarded after ~1,700 points, about 34 check-ins) and the company cited a ~400% increase in geo-location check-ins at the Standard shortly after the program launched. The service had about 10,000 members at the time of reporting, and the company says users invite about two friends on average and roughly 70% of site visitors join. Topguest is not yet profitable and is focused on expanding partnerships across hotels, airlines, car services and other travel-related businesses to grow its membership and partner value.
