Toucan is a London-based fintech startup building a mobile donation app that lets users split a single monthly donation across a personal portfolio of up to three charities. The app enables donors to support the same charities long-term or switch month-to-month for a flexible approach to giving. Toucan says its technology bridges a gap between donors and causes and aims to give smaller charities a platform to reach supporters. Founded in 2021 by CEO Matt Crate, the startup's leadership also includes COO John Barrett and Chief Product Officer Melody Truong. Toucan recently raised €941k—well over its target—to fund development of the app and to encourage millennial and younger generations to make charitable giving second nature. The company positions itself to modernise charitable giving amid post-COVID fundraising challenges faced by many charities.
