Overview

ToutApp began as an email-tracking tool and performed a “zoom-in pivot” to focus on salespeople after finding they were the most engaged users. The product integrates with email and CRM and the company aims to become the core interface through which sales teams use these products. Current features include template-driven outreach suggestions, a faster flow for scheduling meetings, and a feed that shows when recipients engage with messages. CEO Tawheed Kader framed the company’s mission as elevating sales culture and building a strong community of sales users. ToutApp counts customers such as Atlassian, Dropbox, and Optimizely. The company plans to continue deepening integrations and expanding capabilities tailored to sales workflows. ToutApp offers sales-acceleration solutions — including tracking, email and presentation templates, and analytics — to help sales teams streamline outreach and increase engagement throughout the sales process. Founded in 2011 and based in San Francisco, the company is led by CEO Tawheed “TK” Kader. ToutApp reports more than 60,000 salespeople registered on its platform. Its enterprise customers include Responsys, Experian, Atlassian and Box. The company plans to use new funding for product development and to expand its sales and marketing teams. ToutApp provides an inbox-integrated sales communications platform that tracks email opens, link clicks, attachment views, and surfaces social profile details inside Gmail, Google Apps, Outlook and Salesforce. The company launched a real-time analytics dashboard built on Twitter’s Storm to give individuals and teams engagement metrics, template usage, and predictive signals. ToutApp offers customizable email templates, calendar integration, a live feed of email activity, and tiered paid plans (individual heavy users often on a $30/month plan; an enterprise plan is $250/month). The product is aimed primarily at sales teams but the company plans to expand into messaging customers and leads over Facebook and Twitter while keeping email as the core focus. ToutApp reports more than 45,000 total users across free and paid tiers and says a significant number of users are on paid plans. The company was poised to break even in a month or two and planned to use new funding to double headcount in marketing, sales and engineering. ToutApp builds tools to turn repetitive outbound emails into dynamic, customizable templates that autofill recipient details, auto-CC/BCC, and auto-attach files. The product tracks email views and clickthroughs so users know when recipients open messages and can trigger follow-ups. It integrates directly with Gmail and popular CRMs including Salesforce, Highrise, Batchbook, and Capsule to provide team template sharing and email analytics. Tout launched an iOS app that lets users compose, customize, schedule, and send Tout emails from mobile. The company was part of 500 Startups’ summer batch and launched in June. Tout raised early funding to support product development and mobile launch.
