Overview
Toygaroo is a subscription-based toy rental service that bills itself as a “Netflix for toys,” letting parents create a wishlist and receive toys shipped to their home via FedEx. Subscribers choose from six packages priced between $24.99 and $52.99 per month that deliver a fixed number of toys every two months, with a premium option that ships monthly. Toys are cleaned and sanitized between rentals. Co-founder and CEO Nikki Pope pitched the business on ABC’s Shark Tank, where investors Mark Cuban and Kevin O’Leary purchased a combined 35% stake for $200,000. Both investors will take board seats, giving them near-controlling influence and the ability to provide capital and operational guidance. The company faces operational challenges around quality control, sanitization and liability insurance as it scales.
