Overview
Traba operates a marketplace platform that connects light industrial businesses seeking temporary staffing with workers who pick up shifts. The platform uses machine learning, third-party data integrations, AI robo-calling, and granular role attributes to streamline backend processes and algorithmically match workers to shifts. It offers features including instant pay, work history, reliability ratings, company reviews, and preferential restaffing. Led by CEO and co-founder Mike Shebat and launched in 2021, Traba is serving tens of thousands of workers and hundreds of businesses across distribution centers, warehouses, food processing facilities, manufacturers, and similar spaces nationwide. The company is based in Miami and New York City and will use the new funds to accelerate expansion into new regions and add product features to its platform. The funding brings Traba’s total raised to date to $43.6M. Traba operates a shift marketplace and staffing platform that connects vetted contractors with open shifts at fulfillment centers, distribution centers, warehouses and event venues. Workers submit to a Checkr background check, build profiles with work histories and certifications, and can view ratings and reviews; employers can rate workers as well. The platform enforces a $13 minimum wage (range $13–$38; $16 average last month) and offers instant payments to workers in as little as 15 minutes. Traba automates time tracking and invoicing so companies only pay for filled shifts and gain immediate visibility into timesheets and billing. The company reports annualized revenue of over $1 million in eight months of operation and a network of 12,000 workers, and it expects revenue to grow fivefold over the next year. Traba plans geographic expansion (notably to Texas and other light-industrial states), new product releases (dynamic pricing, communications tools, automations and financial solutions), and headcount growth from 22 to about 50 by year-end. Traba operates an on-demand marketplace allowing workers to choose shifts from their phones and businesses to fill labor needs at warehouses, fulfillment centers and event venues. The company was co-founded by CEO Mike Shebat and CTO Akshay Buddiga and has a team composed mostly of engineers. Since launch, Traba has built the worker side of the marketplace and grown to 3,000 workers on the platform. It is already generating revenue and works with 25 businesses across South Florida, including Petal Productions, Kreyol Essence, MIA Shoes and an event company that serves FTX Arena. Traba pays a minimum of $13 an hour on the platform before incentives and bonuses. The startup is hiring account executives, senior operations roles, a sales manager and engineers as it plans to expand nationally from its South Florida base.
