Overview

TrackMaven offers a software-as-a-service competitive intelligence platform that lets digital marketers track all marketing content published by competitors across paid, social, and content channels. Its tools help identify marketing opportunities, optimize content distribution, and track real-time progress. The platform is used by hundreds of top brands including Martha Stewart Living, NPR, the National Basketball Association (NBA), Marketo, CSC, and Eddie Bauer. The company has 40 full-time employees. TrackMaven plans to use the funds to grow product development, sales, marketing, and customer success teams, enhance data-driven insights, develop new platform features, and integrate with other marketing technologies. Financially, it closed a $14M Series B financing in October 2014. TrackMaven makes analytics products for enterprise marketers, with customers including Eddie Bauer and AOL. Its platform helps big brands benchmark, track, and improve their digital marketing while targeting competitors' audiences. The product lets marketers see which topics, strategies, and channels are most effective for rival brands. The article gives a concrete example of how Coke might use the platform to respond to Pepsi's social and PR successes. TrackMaven has secured institutional capital to support its growth: it raised $6.5M in its first round of institutional funding. New Enterprise Associates led the round and NEA general partner Harry Weller will join the board; NEA said its marketing team was "blown away" by the product and expects it to become a platform of choice for leading brands and marketers. TrackMaven is a largely real-time competitive intelligence platform for marketers that aggregates paid, owned and earned media channels into a single interface. The service collects data from social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube), content marketing, traffic and SEO sources and purchases data from providers such as SEOmoz, Alexa, WhatRunsWhere, MixRank and Compete. It provides competitor profiles, benchmarks, a universal real-time feed, custom alerts, and CSV exports; subscription pricing is based on number of users, competitors and types of data tracked. TrackMaven launched a closed beta in February with 20 big-name brands, counts paying customers including Martha Stewart Living and the NBA, and is a team of eight based in D.C. With $1.25M in funding from Aol Ventures and angels, the company is hiring in sales and continuing product development. Planned features include new data sources such as LinkedIn and Google+, custom data visualizations due this summer, and potential backend BI integrations if users demand them.
