TradeHero, built by Singapore-based MyHero, is a mobile app that lets users practice trading with $100,000 in virtual cash while following real market prices. The app combines fantasy-game mechanics, financial literacy and user-generated "micro-research," and surfaces top traders on leaderboards that other users can pay to follow. It monetizes via in-app purchases (extra virtual cash, portfolio resets) and b2b tie-ins with financial companies seeking access to an engaged audience. Launched seven months before the round, TradeHero has built a user base of around 280,000, roughly 75% of whom are active bi-monthly; it is available in more than 200 countries and has ranked #1 in finance in 75 countries and top 10 in about 100. MyHero added an Android app to broaden reach and is aiming to grow to a couple million users within about a year, with particular expansion focus on the U.S., Europe and China. Planned uses for new funding include a major marketing push over the next 18–24 months, translating the app into more languages, and ramping up headcount to support growth.
