Tranquil AI was conceived at a college hackathon by four VIT Vellore engineering students who had personally struggled with anxiety during the COVID-19 period. Launched publicly in March 2025, the mobile app combines an AI chatbot trained on clinician-curated datasets with mood logs, journaling and personalized analytics to emulate a continuous, empathetic conversation. The company introduced a premium tier priced at ₹199 per month while keeping a free version to ensure broad access. Early traction includes more than 25,000 conversations, over 12,000 recorded sessions, 1,000+ active users and a 95 % user-satisfaction rate. Institution-facing dashboards have already supported 500+ students and are being piloted with colleges and corporations. The founders emphasize data privacy (100 % protection reported) and position the product as a plug-and-play mental-wellness solution for organizations. Revenue is expected to grow through the low-cost subscription model and B2B institutional partnerships.
