Transfercar operates rental car relocation websites that connect rental operators and travelers to reposition vehicles between branches in the USA, Australia and New Zealand. Founded in 2008 and led by CEO Brian Karlson, the Auckland-based company allows operators to submit relocations via the web or integrations with fleet-management systems and lets prospective drivers request relocations through the website, mobile phones or email. The service is offered free to travelers and helps operators reposition fleet for new hires. The company raised NZ$450k in a mix of equity and debt to fund expansion and product development. It intends to use the funds to launch in the US and continue development of its web application. Entrepreneur Dennis Round, who will join as global Sales Director, provided the funding; Transfercar had previously raised NZ$150k from Norwegian angel investor Nils August Andresen.
