Transparent Kitchen is an Ottawa-based startup that lays bare restaurants’ supply chains and chefs and allows customers to get the same ingredients at home. It is the sole Ottawa firm in SaaS accelerator L-Spark’s current cohort. The company received its first outside funding via a $10,000 pitch award from Capital Angel Network, delivered days after the pitch. The prize was provided by four of CAN’s angel investors, each allocating $2,500. The pitch award program launched the prior year as a supplement to CAN’s regular activities, and Transparent Kitchen joins previous winners SnapClarity, LeadFox and Back-Bone Gear. In 2017 Capital Angel Network invested $3.3 million across 20 companies, providing context for the group’s angel activity.
