Overview

Treasure Data provides a scalable, secure customer data platform that connects all customer data into one system to unite teams and systems for data‑driven engagements. The platform emphasizes privacy compliance while enabling companies to deliver personalized customer experiences. The company was founded in 2011 by CEO Kazuki Ohta and is based in Mountain View, California. Treasure Data secured $234M in funding to support its operations and growth plans. The firm says it will use the proceeds to execute on CDP innovation and accelerate global growth. Investors in the round include SoftBank Corp. and Carbide Ventures. Treasure Data provides a Live Data Management platform that instantly collects and unifies data from varied enterprise sources and offers self-service analytics to deliver real-time insights. The platform supports nearly 100 integrations across web and mobile analytics, CRM, BI, storage, databases, and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Treasure Data initiated and leads the open-source Fluentd project, a data collector with over 600 community-contributed plug-ins used by more than 2,000 companies including Microsoft, Atlassian and Nintendo. Its customers include teams in marketing and advertising, gaming and content publishing, business and sales operations, retail and eCommerce. Founded in 2011 and based in Mountain View, California, the company has raised $54M in total funding and closed a $25M Series C in 2016. It intends to use the new capital for the market introduction of its Live Data Management platform. Treasure Data provides a cloud service that analyzes high-volume, high-velocity, semi-structured data from mobile applications, IoT/connected devices, large websites, cloud applications and other big data sources. The service enables customers to process this data without investments in time, specialized skills or new infrastructure. Customers currently send approximately 400,000 data records per second to the service, and one Treasure Data customer uploads approximately 12 billion data records per day. Corporate customers include Equifax, Pebble, GREE, Wish.com and MobFox. Led by founder and CEO Hiro Yoshikawa and based in Mountain View, CA, the company intends to use the funds to expand its services and operations. Treasure Data is a cloud-based big data analytics platform that combines open-source software and proprietary distributed systems technology to deliver scalable, subscription-based analytics. Its team brings deep Hadoop expertise and a columnar distributed storage system called Plazma, which the company says yields superior performance versus purely open-source solutions. The service is designed to simplify the pipeline from data collection to analysis so customers can be in full production in days to weeks rather than months or years. Treasure Data offers monthly subscription services and cites customers ranging from social commerce startups to the Fortune 100, including SalesForce.com, MobFox, GetJar and Wish.com. The company announced plans for global expansion funded by its recent financing and has raised $7.75M to date. Treasure Data offers a cloud-based data warehouse service that brings high-end analysis to business units without requiring infrastructure investment. It uses a Hadoop-inspired approach with an agent that feeds application data into a cloud environment and integrates with partners such as Heroku, Jaspersoft, and Engine Yard. Pricing is subscription-based, starting at $1,500 per month or $1,200 per month with a 12-month commitment; the CEO says this is on average more than ten times less than enterprise data warehouse suites. The company has grown to more than 10 customers, including Fortune 500 companies, stores over 100 billion records, and is processing 10,000 messages per second. Hiro Yoshikawa is founder and CEO. Treasure Data has launched commercially and faces the challenge of scaling its data processing and overall business to compete with established enterprise players.
