Trellis Technologies
33 New Montgomery St Ste 850, San Francisco, CA, 94105, United States
Overview
Trellis has built an API platform called Savvy that lets consumers compare auto insurance side-by-side, purchase a new plan, and cancel their old plan in a single flow. The company white-labels its technology to digital banks, fintechs and financial institutions so partners can embed insurance options into their apps and websites. Trellis has integrated Savvy in seven of the top 50 mobile finance apps and four of the top five digital banks, has doubled its partnerships to a couple dozen, and is focused on expanding relationships with large financial institutions. It started with auto insurance and is working to add homeowners insurance; the company reports more than 9 million Savvy visitors, roughly 1 million securely connected user insurance accounts, an estimated $60 million in user savings, and a fourfold increase in users year over year, with revenue growth described as "better than proportional." Trellis was founded in 2019 by CEO Daniel Demetri, moved its headquarters from San Francisco to Salem, New Hampshire, and employs about 80 full-time staff. The company positions itself as a "Plaid for insurance," using proprietary recommendation technologies and back-end automation to match consumers’ existing coverage to comparable quotes and surface policy issues. Trellis Technologies builds secure, digital customer-acquisition and recommendation solutions for insurers and non-insurers, centered on its Savvy recommendation platform. Launched in early 2020 and led by founder and CEO Daniel Demetri, Savvy has been rapidly adopted by fintech apps and digital media publishers. Savvy is integrated into seven of the Top 50 mobile finance apps, including Truebill and Albert, and the company counts direct or indirect relationships with nine of the largest ten car insurers in the U.S. Trellis operates as an all-remote workforce with staff distributed across the U.S. The company recently closed a $10M Series A and intends to use the funds to accelerate hiring, expand partnerships, and develop new products.
