Trend.ly is a basic web service that lets visitors create two-option polls and have the community vote by ‘liking’ a choice. The site had been live for less than two months at the time of the report. Lunar technologies’ managing director Ercan Yaris said Trend.ly raised $1 million from undisclosed angel investors, two of whom are partners in a major Turkish telecom company. The capital will be used to hire staff for a new office, expand product features, and develop applications and tools for iOS, Facebook, and WordPress. Lunar hopes to aggregate Trend.ly data to sell research findings to marketers such as Mercedes and Coca-Cola and expects to raise another $3 million next year. Lunar technologies is also behind music search engine Fizy, which Yaris says draws about 600,000 daily visitors.
