Trill Project

11111 Santa Monica Blvd Suite 2100, Los Angeles, CA, 90025, United States

Overview

Trill Project is an anonymous social platform founded by three high school girls that recently launched out of private beta. Everything on the platform is anonymous (no usernames) and is monitored by about 50 moderators around the clock. The product uses machine learning to learn from reported posts and to help recognize problematic content, and users can change their "trill" identity if they feel exposed. Trill began as a community for teenagers, particularly transgender teens, and has expanded to allow anyone to discuss issues like addiction, mental illness, and workplace problems. The company partners with nonprofits that support people experiencing mental health crises and says the app will remain free to users. Potential monetization paths mentioned include licensing its machine-learning algorithms, selling ad space, and community sponsorships.
