Overview

Trilliant delivers comprehensive, real-time Smart Grid communication network solutions to utilities. Its products aim to enhance energy efficiency, improve utility operations, and support renewable resource integration. The company currently serves more than 200 utility customers, including Hydro One. Trilliant recently closed a $106 million financing to support its expansion. The financing package includes a significant credit facility from an undisclosed venture credit provider and continuing backing from existing investors. Proceeds are intended to finance the company’s continued growth in North America and globally. Trilliant works on the Smart Grid, developing systems that use computers and advanced sensors to more efficiently distribute power. The Smart Grid is being rolled out nationwide and in some European countries to save money and cut emissions. Older power grids still rely on technology developed over a century ago; the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 allotted $100M annually between 2008–2012 to support modernization efforts. Trilliant closed a $40 million funding round led by MissionPoint Capital Partners and zouk ventures. As part of the deal, Mark J. Lewis of MissionPoint and Anthony Fox of zouk will join the company’s Board of Directors.
