Trove offers an app-driven storage service that schedules pickups and deliveries so customers never have to visit a warehouse. The company targets furniture and personal-item storage and says this approach allows it to buy less centralized, more affordable real estate. Trove partners with storage operators to provide a simpler, consumer-friendly experience compared with traditional self-storage facilities. The founders are Michael Pao (formerly Uber’s head of product) and Jon Perlow (former Facebook engineer). Trove launched in the San Francisco Bay Area after months of beta testing and is initially focused on that market before expanding. The company claims a $30 billion market opportunity for furniture storage and has raised financing to build out its concept.
