Overview
TrustEgg provides an online platform that lets parents set up trusts for their children in about a minute and invite family and friends to contribute. Donors must be invited by email and can leave messages that build a private journal the child receives at age 18. The company launched publicly after a beta period and has relocated operations to San Diego. To clear regulatory hurdles it is operating as a licensed product through Summit Trust rather than as its own chartered trust company, which allowed the launch without raising additional capital at that time. There is no signup fee and TrustEgg charges an annual 89 basis‑point fee on assets under management, which includes the Vanguard management fee for the mid‑risk funds it uses. The startup is working with the 1:1 Fund to reach lower‑income savers, hired former Mint marketer Kinda Hatamle to lead marketing, and plans to pursue additional fundraising and potential white‑label partnerships with banks.
