Turbulenz develops an online platform that enables developers to create, publish and monetise a new generation of browser games. The company was founded in early 2009 by David Galeano (CTO), James Austin (CEO) and Gavin Shields (COO). It is based in Guildford, UK, having recently moved there to position itself in the centre of UK game development for at least five years. Turbulenz has raised over $5m in funding, which it plans to invest in continued technology development and commercialization. The company is preparing for a planned platform launch in 2011 and has spent the prior six months recruiting developers and business leaders from Apple, Sony, Google, Eidos and Square Enix. The fundraising supports its pre-launch growth and go-to-market activities.
