Turvo

200 S Mathilda Ave, Sunnyvale, California, 94086, United States

Overview

Turvo provides an AI-driven, IoT real-time collaborative logistics platform it calls the “Internet of Shipping,” enabling users across the supply chain to share, communicate, and collaborate in real time to make more informed decisions. Led by CEO and co-founder Eric Gilmore, the company connects people, businesses, applications, and devices in a single solution. In August 2018 Turvo raised $60M in a Series B round, bringing total investment in the company to nearly $100M. The Series B was led by Mubadala Ventures with participation from new investors G2VP and Next47 and existing backers Activant Capital, Felicis Ventures, Future Shape, and Upside Partnership. Ibrahim Ajami, Head of Mubadala Ventures, will join Turvo’s board in conjunction with the funding. Turvo is based in San Francisco and also maintains offices in Hyderabad, India. Turvo is a two-year-old logistics software company that offers a cloud-native platform enabling shippers, brokers and carriers to collaborate across the entire supply chain. Its core product provides cross-company collaboration (similar to Slack but across firms), real-time visibility via a mobile app that tracks shipments from dispatch to delivery, and integrated billing and payments with digital invoices and scheduled payments. The company operates a transactional pricing model that charges customers a fee per shipment rather than a subscription, facilitating frictionless user onboarding. Turvo has about 50 employees, is based in Sunnyvale with offices in Hyderabad, and counts customers such as Oberto Brands, Le Metier De Beaute, Anchor Brewing and Service First Logistics. After launching publicly from stealth, the company aims to grow quickly and expand adoption of its platform. It faces a crowded market, competing with legacy ERP and transportation management vendors like SAP and Oracle and both partnering with and competing against newer on-demand and freight-forwarding players such as Flexport and Transfix.
