Its core offering combines deep neural networks with a crowd-acting platform and a dataset of over two million annotated video clips to provide human-like awareness via an RGB camera. Product areas include touchless sensing, scene understanding, and context-aware human-computer interaction, which enterprise customers can license to enable camera-equipped devices to understand and interact with users. The company operates from Berlin and Toronto and contributes to academic research through partnerships such as with MILA, releasing large-scale video datasets and baseline code for public use. The Central System Intelligence has been under development since mid‑2015 and is intended to let customers explore applications after only a few weeks of integration. The company runs an AI research lab in Toronto and focuses research on recurrent networks, training techniques, and transfer learning to advance multi-task learning. TwentyBN serves the European mainland from its Berlin office and North America from Toronto, and is also exploring its own product applications. The startup recently closed a $2.5 million funding round and plans to use the capital to rapidly expand its research and technology teams. The founding team of four—who met at the University of Bielefeld and include two former professors—bring over 15 years each of machine‑learning experience.
