Twistlock
411 NW Park Ave #500, Portland, OR, 97209, United States
Overview
Twistlock provides a security platform designed to protect cloud-native environments, with tooling that secures containers and serverless workloads and performs forensic analysis when exploits occur. The product is delivered as a service installed on customers' public or private clouds rather than a traditional SaaS offering. Twistlock focuses on visibility and protection for ephemeral infrastructure used with Docker and Kubernetes, aiming to detect attacks and trace how they happened. The company reports just over 200 customers, including Walgreens and Aetna, and employs about 80 people. Founded in 2015, Twistlock operates from Portland, Oregon with an R&D arm in Israel. Management plans to use the new funding to expand marketing, sales and engineering to grow the customer base and stay ahead of competition. Twistlock provides an enterprise security suite for containerized environments that addresses risks on the host and within containerized applications. Its platform enables enterprises to enforce security policies, monitor and audit activity, and identify and isolate threats in a container or cluster of containers. The company recently released its 2.0 release, adding enhanced visibility and compliance features to meet stringent enterprise security requirements. Led by CEO and co‑founder Ben Bernstein, Twistlock plans to use new funding to scale the team and continue delivering security innovations. Financially, the company has raised $30m to date. It maintains offices in San Francisco, Portland, New York and Herzliya, Israel. Twistlock provides an enterprise suite for container security, including Twistlock Trust to manage container vulnerabilities and enforce compliance practices, and Twistlock Runtime for runtime behavior analytics and defense against zero-day threats in production. The company is led by CEO Ben Bernstein and Dima Stopel, head of R&D. Twistlock is based in San Francisco, California. It completed a $10M round of funding and will use the funds to expand operations. Alex Doll of TenEleven Ventures joined Twistlock’s board of directors in conjunction with the financing. Twistlock unveiled the industry’s first virtual container security suite designed to give enterprises visibility and control over container-based applications and data. The suite inspects containers both at rest and at run-time, monitors static container images and runtime applications, and enables specification of security baselines before deployment. It provides host- and application-level protections, policy enforcement, monitoring/auditing, and threat identification and isolation for containers deployed on-premises and in the cloud. Twistlock is working with Docker and a broader ecosystem that includes major OS vendors (e.g., Microsoft, Red Hat), virtual datacenter providers (e.g., VMware, Microsoft) and cloud providers (e.g., Google, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Rackspace), and engages with the open source community. The company was founded by Ben Bernstein (CEO) and Dima Stopel. Twistlock announced $2.5 million in seed funding led by YL Ventures to support its enterprise-grade container security offering.
